Amber Stafford
Founder & Owner
Amber grew up in a rural Ontario town with a population under 2000 people, spending her childhood wandering the woods and catching frogs with her little brother. Her first job was weeding wildflower meadows and mowing golf course greens. After working in fashion for nearly a decade, Amber returned to school to reconnect with nature and get her degree in Landscape Design at Ryerson.
Her philosophy for life comes from her grandmother who was more brave than afraid and was both teacher and student her whole life (and a theatre actor in her 80s!). Amber loves the heavy June scent of a peony, the satisfaction of a job well done, balance over symmetry, and matcha lattes with honey.
Aislynn Shanahan
Lead Garden Hand
After realizing her favourite part of being a teacher was recess duty, Aislynn decided to follow her heart and explore outdoor career options. At first, she was intrigued by gardening because it would allow her to spend more time in nature while maintaining an active lifestyle. Once she started, Aislynn discovered that she values being part of a close knit team that shares in the fulfilling experience of transforming spaces into beautiful, sustainable environments for others to enjoy. Currently, she is working towards the completion of a Horticulture Certificate and is dedicated to being a lifelong learner of all things outdoors. When she's not working in a garden, Aislynn can be found camping, painting, over-caffeinating or curled up with her cat. Other special skills include a positive attitude and the ability to befriend local pets everywhere.
Rachel Kopacki
Lead Designer
Rachel has studied both fine art and architecture, and is most recently working towards her diploma in Landscape Design. She has spent many years working as a gardener and loves the beauty of outdoor spaces. She is eager to tie together her love of the outdoors, with the creativity of landscape design. She especially likes the opportunity to use colour in the landscape, much like creating a painting. In her spare time, you’ll most likely find her focusing on vegetables in her community garden plot.
Mary Chartrand
Client Care & Operations Coordinator
Mary is another Ryerson alum on staff, having graduated from the Environment and Urban Sustainability program. Raised in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, she has an affinity for birch trees, evergreens, and rainy, windy days. Her professional background is in hospitality, green roofing, living walls, and arboriculture, and it has led her to become the head of our client care team. Having become a mother in Spring 2021, outside of work Mary can be found raising a future nature and beach-day enthusiast in Toronto’s parks and ravines, and on our many beaches.

The team comes from all walks of life and have found garden and horticulture work through different paths and career journeys, but have all found their joy and purpose working in and with the earth.
